Hoopers Estate Agents in Neasden are thrilled to witness the new Brent Cross West Station is edging closer to opening. The new development will completely transform access to this part of London, massively benefitting residents in Cricklewood, Dollis Hill and Neasden.
Brent Cross West Station will be served by trains on the Thameslink line which will get residents into King's Cross St Pancras - central London's most well-connected station - in 12 minutes.
A further three minutes on, passengers will arrive at Farringdon for connections to the Elizabeth Line. Services to Luton and Gatwick airports will now also be in reach of residents. At peak times there will be up to eight trains per hour - vastly improving existing local connections.
About The New Brent Cross West Station
The station is the first step in the transformation of this area - with a real focus on sustainability and accessibility. The £4.5bn scheme - of which £400m has come from central government - includes a new 'town centre' with 6,700 new homes, workspace for 25,000 people, schools, a surgery, and a new public park.
Having a key transport hub located at the heart of the development is key to the project's sustainability, since many of the new homes under development will be apartments with limited parking. Transport for London have already pledged that Brent Cross will be getting new bus routes and improved services as part of Mayor Sadiq Khan's plan to expand the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) to the boundaries of London by the end of August 2023.
Sustainable and Accessible
Sustainability and accessibility aren’t just about extra trains and buses serving the local area: it's ingrained in the design of the new station itself.
The £40m, four-platform stop will have step-free access from train to street. Each Thameslink train will have dedicated spaces for wheelchair users and the station will link to a transport interchange on its eastern side. The completed building will feature a roof canopy of glazed panels resting on timber columns, vines connected to planters and ornamental trees in the entrance.
Residents of Cricklewood and Neasden will benefit from the newly-installed 60-metre long, 77 tonne bridge across the tracks, which will allow pedestrians and cyclists to traverse the railway without needing to enter the station. This will save them a mile-long, 15-minute detour along the north circular for the first time since the Midland Main Line was built in the 19th century!
Local residents will also enjoy the benefit of direct access to all the 'town centre' facilities being developed at the same time as the new station is opened.
